About the Role
IKI Sushi at Crows Nest is hiring sushi chefs and kitchen hands. The head chef brings Michelin-starred experience from top French and Japanese three-star restaurants, offering staff the chance to learn advanced culinary techniques, ingredient selection, and culinary philosophy in this innovative sushi train environment.
Job Details
- Positions: Sushi Chef, Kitchen Hand
- Sushi Chef Requirements: Experience with nigiri sushi, cookery students or graduates welcome
- Kitchen Hand: No experience needed; opportunity to progress to sushi chef
- Employment Types: Part-time, full-time, casual
- Location: 3-minute walk from Crows Nest station, 5 minutes from St Leonard station
- Working Hours: Sushi Chef: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM, Kitchen Hand and Hall Staff: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM (shift-based)
- Availability: Minimum 3 days/week, 4 hours per day, full-time preferred
Pay
- Full-time salary: AUD 65,000 - 95,000 plus superannuation
- Casual hourly wages with three levels:
- Level 1: Weekdays $31/hr + super, weekends $33/hr + super
- Level 2: Weekdays $32/hr + super, weekends $34/hr + super
- Level 3: Weekdays $33/hr + super, weekends $35/hr + super
Qualifications and Eligibility
- Sushi chefs must have restaurant or culinary school experience making nigiri sushi; nationality does not matter
- English communication skills sufficient for basic interaction with staff
- Must hold a valid visa to work in Australia for at least six months (working holiday, student, business, permanent resident, or citizenship)
