Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Marine & Offshore Surveyor to join our team in the North-East Area of Germany, based near Hamburg. This role involves engaging with clients in the maritime sector, leveraging your expertise in marine engineering or naval architecture to enhance safety and compliance for marine assets. The position offers a diverse work environment, including site visits to various customers, challenging tasks, and professional growth opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Conduct surveys on ships during construction phases and operational periods within Germany's North-East region.
- Inspect materials and equipment intended for marine use at manufacturing facilities and laboratories.
- Interpret and apply national and international maritime regulations and standards relevant to marine assets.
- Manage projects efficiently, maintaining clear communication with clients, overseeing financial controls, and ensuring prompt and precise reporting.
- Deliver quality outcomes within predefined time, budget, and format constraints.
- Perform activities adhering to internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry benchmarks.
- Engage in continuous professional development to sustain expertise and discipline.
- Evaluate or recommend work scope, costs, and appropriate fee structures for external clients.
- Provide guidance and share knowledge with colleagues to facilitate effective information transfer.
- Contribute to service enhancement by relaying client feedback internally and externally.
- Ensure all necessary authorizations are obtained and maintained current.
- Perform routine administrative duties according to established procedures.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols by assessing risks and abstaining from unsafe work practices.
- Operate primarily within the Hamburg vicinity and Germany's North-East area, including the Baltic coast.
Candidate Profile
- Possesses relevant qualifications as a surveyor and auditor, advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong communication and reporting skills in English, with proficiency in German considered a plus.
- Holds a BSc or MSc (or equivalent) in marine engineering or naval architecture, with knowledge spanning both fields preferred.
- Minimum three years of applicable technical experience, sea-going background is beneficial.
- Capable of applying theoretical and practical engineering methods to solve technical challenges.
- Willingness to travel offshore and internationally on short notice, including weekends.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Resides in close proximity to Hamburg city.
