Job Overview

The position of Executive - Aerodrome Safeguarding involves overseeing safety awareness and hazard mitigation within the airside airport environment. The role demands supporting safety inspections, assisting in incident responses, maintaining accurate safety documentation, and contributing to aerodrome safeguarding programs to ensure compliance with relevant safety standards and aviation regulations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support thorough inspections of airside areas including runways, taxiways, and aprons, identifying hazards like foreign object debris and obstructions.
  • Accurately document inspection details such as hazard type, location, and severity using specified reporting tools.
  • Participate in incident management by following defined procedures and recording key incident data (e.g., date, involved parties).
  • Maintain and update safety records and databases with precision to guarantee data integrity and accessibility.
  • Engage actively in safety training programs and promote a culture of safety awareness through participation in discussions and initiatives.
  • Assist in implementing physical safeguarding measures like wildlife fencing and bird deterrent techniques to enhance airport safety.
  • Analyze wildlife strike and other safety-related data to detect trends, driving continuous improvements in aerodrome safeguarding strategies.

Key Internal and External Stakeholders

Coordinate with internal departments including Aerodrome Safeguarding Lead, Airport Operations, ATCC, Security, Health, Safety & Environment, Legal, and Environment Management Teams. Externally liaise with organizations such as the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), environmental and aviation safety consultants, airlines, ground handling agencies, local planning authorities, and meteorological services.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, Geography, Safety Management or Aviation Management.
  • Mandatory certification in ICAO Airport Services.
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in wildlife management, environmental consulting, airside management, or similar domains.

Essential Knowledge Base

  • Thorough understanding of Aircraft Act 1934 and Aircraft Rules 1937.
  • Familiarity with GSR 751 MoCA, CAR Series B Part I (Aerodrome Design & Operations), CAR Series E Part II (Air Traffic Services), CAR Series X Part III (Aeronautical Charts).
  • Knowledge of Aeronautical Information Service (AIS), NOTAMs, Aeronautical Information Regulation and Control (AIRAC) cycles.
  • Proficient in ICAO Annexes 4, 14, 15 and ICAO Airport Services Manual Part 6 concerning obstacle control.
  • Experience with DOC 9859 - Safety Management Systems.
