Surge Team Reset Merchandiser

Position Summary

This role is focused on improving grocery store performance by carrying out KOMPASS schedules, special assignments, and surge-team tasks in assigned Kroger locations. The position supports accurate and timely section reset work, strengthens merchandising execution, and contributes in a way that aligns with Kroger’s mission and P.L. Marketing’s standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Interpret plan-o-grams accurately and use them to guide reset work.
• Gather plan-o-grams, new item labels, and merchandise, then organize the worksite so section resets can be completed efficiently.
• Remove product from affected sections in a tidy way so customers can still access other parts of the aisle.
• Move shelving and place merchandise according to the updated schematic.
• Leave the work area clean and organized after completion.
• Fill out required forms and notify Kroger and immediate supervisors when a section reset is finished.
• Work as part of the team to complete all scheduled resets and special projects.
• Identify opportunities to increase sales of Kroger corporate brands through better item placement, new item recommendations, pricing or promotional ideas, and solutions for stocking or supply issues.
• Provide regular progress updates to store, zone, and division leadership on active projects and reset activity.
• Handle questions and issues related to surge work and other special assignments.
• When needed, lead and supervise a part-time crew working on grocery, HBC, or GM resets based on a detailed plan.
• Assist customers and apply knowledge of Kroger’s Customer 1st Strategy.
• Serve as a support resource for P.L. Marketing and Kroger division staff.
• Continue building expertise in grocery merchandising, item placement, KOMPASS, temporary surge work, facilities management, and supply-chain/stocking processes.
• Represent P.L. Marketing professionally in interactions with Kroger management.
• Follow KOMPASS rules on punctuality, productivity, teamwork, communication, and clock-in/clock-out procedures.
• Remain eligible to drive under insurance requirements.
• Be available for frequent overnight travel.
• Provide additional store support during periods when regular hours are reduced, including holidays or urgent customer support situations, when needed.
• Perform all essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• At least 3 years of retail grocery merchandising experience is preferred.
• Must be a self-starter who can work with limited supervision.
• Fluent English communication skills are required for reading, writing, and speaking.
• Ability to read and execute shelf plans is necessary.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new computer systems.
• Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to a team environment.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Must qualify as an insurable driver and maintain a strong driving record.
• A smartphone with data or internet access is required, and the job may require installing an app with permissions such as location, camera, and photo gallery access.
• Personal tape measure and safety gloves must be provided by the employee.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle without assistance.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for several hours at a time.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs. or more regularly and up to 70 lbs. occasionally.
• Ability to reach in all directions, bend repeatedly, and maintain unrestricted upper-body mobility.
• Ability to lift and extend 30 lbs. overhead, sometimes repeatedly.
• Unlimited manual dexterity is required.
• Ability to work in temperatures ranging from 0 to 90 degrees.

Preferred Background

• Experience in retail grocery store operations or grocery merchandising is preferred.
• Prior experience resetting grocery, HBC, or GM sections according to detailed plan-o-grams is especially helpful.

Additional Information

Frequent overnight travel is part of the role. The position also requires ongoing compliance with KOMPASS employee guidelines, especially those related to timeliness, productivity, teamwork, communication, and timekeeping.

During periods when regular hours are reduced because of holidays or urgent customer support needs, the employee may be assigned other store support duties beyond the main responsibilities listed above.
