Role overview

Community Care Trust is hiring compassionate and dependable support workers in Nelson Whakatū. There are both full-time and part-time opportunities available across the Nelson area. The role focuses on assisting people with complex needs so they can live according to their own choices, at home and in the community.

What the role involves

  • Provide hands-on support to people with complex needs in everyday living.
  • Deliver personal care respectfully and with dignity.
  • Work alongside individuals to help them pursue their goals and participate in their communities.
  • Adapt to changing situations and respond calmly when needs arise.

What you need for this role

  • Availability for at least one weekend shift each week.
  • Confidence providing personal care in a setting with high and complex support needs.
  • A calm, caring, and positive approach.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to adjust to different situations.
  • Practical thinking and the ability to act quickly when needed.
  • An awareness of Enabling Good Lives principles, or a genuine willingness to learn.

Requirements and eligibility

  • A current First Aid Certificate, or a willingness to obtain one at the employer’s expense.
  • A full and current New Zealand driver licence.
  • Permission to work in New Zealand.
  • A valid work visa with at least 12 months remaining before expiry.
  • No AEWV job tokens are available for this region.
