About the Role
This full-time, on-site Support Worker position in Highgate, Western Australia is focused on providing caring, person-centred assistance to older adults and people living with disability. The role is designed to help individuals maintain independence, dignity, and a better quality of life through practical support and respectful day-to-day care.
What You'll Do
You will assist with personal care, daily living activities, mobility support, meal preparation, light household tasks, and access to the community. The position also includes emotional support, wellbeing checks, and making sure individual preferences and goals are honoured in every interaction.
Care Approach
This role requires you to work closely with individuals, their families, and other professionals to deliver consistent, safe, and respectful support. You will follow tailored care plans, use safeguarding practices, and contribute to an environment that values inclusion and dignity.
Documentation and Communication
Accurate recordkeeping is an important part of the job. You will be expected to document support delivered, report concerns promptly, and communicate clearly with families and colleagues to help ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have experience in support work or care-related roles, ideally with older adults and/or people with disability. A relevant qualification in aged care, disability support, community services, or a related field is preferred, or you should be working towards one.
Additional Requirements
You should be capable of handling the physical demands of the role, including safe manual handling and mobility assistance. You also need to be comfortable using basic care-related systems, mobile devices, and simple assistive technologies where needed.
Current relevant checks are preferred, or you should be willing to obtain them. These may include a police clearance, working with vulnerable people check, and first aid/CPR certification as required. The role may also require flexibility to work evenings or weekends depending on service needs.
