Job description
Role Overview
Westhaven is seeking dependable, community-minded people in Broken Hill to support adults with disabilities in living as independently and meaningfully as possible. This role is ideal for someone who wants steady work close to home while contributing to positive outcomes for people in the local community.
Applications are welcomed from experienced disability support workers as well as people who are ready to bring strong life skills and compassion into a new career. Westhaven also encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants and people with lived experience of disability to apply.
What’s on Offer
- Hourly pay between $34.58 and $37.73, with casual and shift loadings under the SCHADS Award, plus 12% superannuation.
- Access to salary packaging worth up to $15,900 per year tax-free, along with a $2,650 annual meal and entertainment card.
- Employee discounts, including Fitness Passport.
- Mandatory one-week induction training and a defined pathway for future progression into Team Leader positions.
Key Duties
- Provide support with personal care and everyday living tasks.
- Assist clients to take part in community life across Broken Hill, including social outings, hobbies, and appointments.
- Encourage skill development and greater independence.
- Maintain accurate daily records, including case notes, incident reports, and other administrative documentation.
What We’re Looking For
Westhaven values practical experience and a caring approach as much as formal qualifications. The successful applicant will need a current NSW driver’s licence and must be willing to drive, along with a valid First Aid and CPR certificate or the willingness to obtain one. A paid Working with Children Check and a National Disability Insurance Scheme Worker Check are also required. The position requires flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, which may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and sleepover shifts.
About Westhaven
Westhaven provides disability support services and accommodation across regional New South Wales. The organisation focuses on social justice, person-centred support, and equal opportunity, with a strong commitment to building a workforce that reflects the communities it serves.
Important Information
Applicants should hold valid independent Australian working rights, as visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Westhaven also notes that candidates do not need to meet every requirement before getting in touch if they bring the right attitude and willingness to learn. Applications close on Friday 24 July 2026. For a confidential discussion or further details, contact Dimity Philp at dimity.philp@westhaven.org.au. A position description is available for this role.
