Job description

Role overview

This position sits within Reality Labs at Meta, where teams design and deliver advanced virtual reality, augmented reality, and accessory products. The Supply Planner owns end-to-end supply chain planning for a product portfolio and serves as the main contact for global supply availability. The work covers capacity planning, factory scheduling, sales and operations planning, inventory strategy from new product introduction through end of life, and coordination with manufacturing, sourcing, channel, and operations partners.

The role is especially analytical and technically complex. It requires building and solving constrained planning models across multi-tier supply networks, forecasting yield for sophisticated hardware modules, and integrating component-level constraints such as battery behavior and lifecycle factors into supply decisions. The planner must also align launch ramp plans with production readiness, yield improvements, and launch timelines while helping improve planning tools, automation, and decision quality.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary global point of contact for supply planning and product availability across the assigned portfolio.
  • Contribute to monthly S&OP reviews by recommending finished goods, materials, and capacity plans based on yield-adjusted output and constraint analysis.
  • Support weekly S&OE discussions with supply information that helps cross-functional teams align demand and supply plans.
  • Build weekly production plans that are constrained by capacity and materials, using optimization logic such as objective functions, decision variables, and operating constraints to arrive at executable build schedules.
  • Own the creation, communication, and tracking of detailed ship plans at contract manufacturing sites, including forecasts, commitments, build plans, and purchase orders.
  • Interpret multi-channel demand patterns across e-commerce, retail, enterprise, and non-revenue channels and recommend actions based on changing trends.
  • Identify, escalate, and help resolve supply problems, including support for material sourcing, coordination, and issue communication.
  • Set inbound priorities using allocation rules so critical materials reach the right points in time for efficient production.
  • Include technical component constraints such as battery cycle life, degradation, and state-of-charge limits in planning models to maintain build feasibility and product quality over the lifecycle.
  • Estimate yield for complex modules such as optical waveguides, display stacks, and battery cells to improve production forecasts.
  • Model yield ramp behavior during NPI, steady-state variation, and fallout at key process steps so plans reflect realistic output.
  • Work with NPI Operations and factory teams to design capacity plans that balance throughput needs with CapEx efficiency and equipment utilization.
  • Coordinate with Channel Operations, NPI Operations, Sales, and other partners to support product launches and align supply readiness, channel fill, allocation, and go-to-market timing.
  • Create and maintain finished goods inventory plans for regional distribution centers while considering service policies, financial targets, and transportation costs.
  • Partner with contract manufacturing operations to model and optimize site capacities across the network, including throughput and changeover constraints.
  • Work with sourcing partners on strategies for constrained or complex modules by sharing demand signals and supply risk inputs that support supplier qualification, dual sourcing, and capacity reservations.
  • Track supply chain KPIs for the portfolio, including plan adherence, inventory turns, and fill rate.
  • Lead automation and development efforts for planning systems, solver integration, optimization models, simulation tools, and data pipeline improvements that increase planning speed and accuracy.

Minimum qualifications

  • At least 4 years of supply planning experience, ideally in consumer electronics, with understanding of batteries, optical assemblies, display stacks, and similar modules.
  • Hands-on experience with S&OP and S&OE processes, including supply recommendations and constrained capacity inputs.
  • Experience with scenario modeling and constrained optimization using large datasets, objective functions, constraints, and solvers.
  • Background in NPI launch planning with cross-functional coordination across Operations, Channel, and Sales teams.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems for planning, order management, allocation, and fulfillment.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Experience pulling insights and reports from analytics tools such as Tableau or business intelligence platforms.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including presenting to and influencing leadership.
  • Ability to support decisions with facts, analysis, and clear reasoning.
  • Capability to manage competing priorities while staying accurate and meeting deadlines.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related discipline.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience using AI tools to improve workflows and deliver measurable efficiency or quality gains.
  • Exposure to sourcing strategies for highly constrained or technically complex components.
  • Experience in global manufacturing operations and contract manufacturer management, including capacity modeling, NPI ramp planning, and CapEx optimization across multiple sites.
  • Professional certification in supply chain or materials management such as APICS CSCP or CPIM.
  • Experience building optimization models, solver-based tools, scenario simulators, or automation solutions for planning systems.
  • Ongoing development of AI skills such as prompt design and agent orchestration.
  • Experience with advanced planning systems that generate constrained build plans considering capacity, material availability, yield, ship modes, and component-level technical limits.
  • Awareness of responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk review, bias reduction, and quality checks.
  • Master's degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of supply planning experience in consumer electronics, especially with technically complex hardware such as VR/AR devices, wearables, or display products.
  • Experience managing NPI launches end to end with supply readiness across Operations, Channel, Sales, and other stakeholders.
