Role overview

Our client is hiring a Supply Chain Specialist I in Houston, Texas, for a full-time, on-site position. The role centers on keeping inventory accurate, coordinating procurement, and working with vendors so materials are available when needed and operations run efficiently at a controlled cost.

Key responsibilities

  • Keep inventory records accurate, including restocking items and resolving any count or data mismatches.
  • Handle stock repairs, parts movement, and material distribution to support day-to-day operations.
  • Watch inventory levels and suggest updates to reorder points and stock levels when needed.
  • Prepare purchase requests, issue orders, and follow up on deliveries to make sure needs are met on time.
  • Push delayed orders forward and stay in regular contact with suppliers.
  • Maintain inventory systems and cross-reference records with up-to-date information.
  • Track defective or nonconforming parts, including warranty-related claims.
  • Work with internal teams to stay within budget and cost objectives.
  • Take part in inventory audits and physical counts to verify data accuracy.
  • Identify and assess vendors that can support supply chain needs.
  • Help drive cost-saving efforts and share outcomes with management.
  • Assist customer service and operations teams with parts-related transactions.
  • Contribute to ongoing quality and process improvement efforts.

Required qualifications

The ideal candidate should have an associate degree or comparable experience in supply chain, logistics, or a similar field. A solid grasp of inventory control and purchasing workflows is important, along with basic analytical and numerical ability to review data, ratios, and trends. The role also calls for strong reading comprehension for instructions, reports, and documents, plus clear communication skills for working with different stakeholders.

Preferred background

Experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or supply chain settings is preferred. Familiarity with inventory tracking systems and tools is an advantage, as are strong organizational and problem-solving skills. The position suits someone who can juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
