Role Overview
This position is for a seasoned Supply Chain Manager to oversee purchasing activities in a manufacturing setting. The role calls for strong team leadership, sourcing strategy, and hands-on knowledge of MRP and ERP tools, bills of material, and inventory control. The successful candidate will also have substantial experience dealing with overseas suppliers and a history of improving costs, supplier performance, and internal processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct the purchasing team, including buyers and materials management personnel.
- Design and carry out strategic sourcing plans that achieve planned savings targets.
- Handle supplier negotiations covering pricing, quality standards, and delivery commitments.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers overseas, especially in Asia.
- Track vendor performance and support ongoing process improvements.
- Rush and resolve material shortages when needed to keep operations moving.
- Use MRP and ERP platforms to run purchasing workflows and manage inventory.
- Maintain a steady supply of quality materials and components for production.
Candidate Profile
- At least 8 years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 4 years in purchasing leadership or management roles.
- Stable work history with evidence of long-term tenure in previous roles.
- Direct experience working with international suppliers, with Asia experience preferred.
- Strong exposure to MRP/ERP systems, with Syspro preferred.
- Experience supporting MRP/ERP implementation and understanding BOM structures.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related discipline.
