Job description
The Company
This is a long-standing manufacturer owned in New Zealand, with a strong presence across its region. It serves customers in New Zealand, Australia, and the Pacific Islands, and also handles offshore toll manufacturing. The organisation is recognised for dependable product quality, a service-led mindset, and a well-established market position.
About the Opportunity
Reporting straight to the CEO, this 12-month fixed-term contract offers responsibility for the end-to-end supply chain function. You will lead one direct report and take charge of import and export activity, with a strong emphasis on controlling costs and improving logistics performance.
A major part of the role involves international freight, container movements, and managing direct shipping agreements with carriers. You will work to reduce supply chain costs, improve 3PL effectiveness, and keep logistics expenditure tightly managed. Export flows to Australia and the Pacific Islands are a key focus, including substantial pallet volumes that require accurate planning and execution.
In addition to freight and cost oversight, you will be responsible for demand planning, procurement, customs processes, MPI compliance, and DIFOT performance to help ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
Key Requirements
- Hands-on background in managing international import and export operations, including container-based freight
- Strong commercial judgement and a history of lowering logistics spend
- Experience working with third-party logistics providers and negotiating directly with carriers
- Practical knowledge of customs clearance processes and MPI compliance requirements
- Comfortable engaging with senior leaders and operating at executive level
- Available to commit to a 12-month fixed-term contract
