Overview
The Supply Chain Business Analyst is an integral part of the National Transport Team, providing essential data analysis, reporting assistance, and operational support to the Regional Transport Manager. This position ensures the transport network operates with consistency, efficiency, and compliance by transforming raw data into actionable insights, maintaining key compliance records, and driving continuous improvement across transportation operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and regularly update transport compliance registers including Chain of Responsibility (CoR) documentation covering all relevant transport streams.
- Monitor fatigue management, mass management, and vehicle maintenance requirements; identify gaps or upcoming renewals and notify the Regional Transport Manager accordingly.
- Manage incident tracking and corrective action documentation, preparing compliance status reports for review.
- Stay informed on regulatory changes, escalating significant updates to the team.
- Coordinate the gathering and organization of audit materials for both internal and external compliance evaluations.
- Keep carrier performance data current across the transport network.
- Prepare carrier scorecards and summaries in advance of monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc business reviews.
- Support documentation of carrier Service Level Agreements, rate schedules, and contract registries, ensuring records are accurate and accessible.
- Assist carrier onboarding by managing accreditation checklists and insurance confirmations.
- Analyze transport operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for cost savings that support Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Participate in site visits and meetings with carriers to validate operational insights and strengthen analysis.
- Help Regional Transport Managers prepare data packages for rate reviews, Request for Quotations (RFQ), and carrier tender processes.
- Maintain freight rate schedules and fuel levy trackers, ensuring accuracy and flagging unusual items for attention.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to work effectively with large datasets and distill clear, practical insights.
- Experience in transport, logistics, or FMCG supply chain settings with familiarity with Chain of Responsibility legislation and transport compliance systems.
- Background in supporting procurement or contract administration activities.
- Competence in project coordination including tracking tasks, managing schedules, and preparing meeting documents.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data visualization or BI platforms such as Power BI or Tableau is advantageous.
- A tertiary degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, data analytics, or a related discipline or proven industry experience in a similar analytical role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey data-driven insights clearly to operational teams and leadership.
- Highly organized and detail-focused, able to handle multiple responsibilities and priorities effectively.
- A collaborative mindset with genuine curiosity about transport and supply chain operations.
- Readiness to travel to various Inghams sites and carrier locations as required.
