Position Overview

As the Supervisor of Quality Assurance Inspection, you will report to the Manager of Quality Assurance and be based in North Bay. Your key responsibility is overseeing the safe, efficient, and timely execution of quality assurance inspections and calibration projects for both internal and external clients. You will ensure adherence to relevant standards and regulations, lead a team of QA inspectors, and provide technical support.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, train, and maintain a secure workplace while complying with collective agreements.
• Schedule, coordinate, and prioritize inspections across multiple shops including car, diesel, and paint for locomotive, freight, and passenger services.
• Verify that all work complies with Association of American Railroads (AAR), Transport Canada, and other regulatory frameworks.
• Offer technical assistance to stakeholders internally and externally.
• Participate in health and safety investigations and conduct Intelex-based observations and inspections.
• Serve as the primary contact for addressing concerns within the QA inspection team.
• Enforce health, safety, and company policy compliance.
• Review customer project scopes to support the development of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs).
• Recommend updates to procedures, work instructions, and forms to ensure proper inspection criteria and record keeping.
• Facilitate improvements in equipment and gauge calibration processes.
• Support the implementation of incoming inspection protocols and required documentation.
• Conduct daily team meetings to prioritize and organize daily tasks.
• Collaborate with internal and external clients regarding work scheduling, project updates, and inspection requirements.
• Monitor and ensure training compliance aligned with AAR, Transport Canada qualifications; forecast future training needs.
• Prepare for and participate in internal and external audits, managing requisite documentation.
• Maintain training records to confirm compliance with regulatory documents.
• Coach and encourage the development of a self-managing team of inspectors.

Skill and Experience Requirements

• Proven supervisory experience, preferably within a unionized environment.
• Three to five years of experience in process improvement, familiarity with AAR regulations, and ISO 9001:2015 standards preferred.
• Three to five years of recent hands-on quality assurance inspection experience.
• Completion of Secondary School Diploma or equivalent General Educational Diploma (GED).
• ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification is mandatory.
• Certification in Non-destructive Testing (NDT) is an asset.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
• Strong capabilities in planning, organization, problem-solving, and conflict management.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Valid Class G driver's license with willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
• Flexibility to work occasional overtime as needed.
• Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices.
