Role Summary

This full-time, on-site position in Dubai focuses on supervising daily operations and customer service activities within the Sea Export team. The role includes oversight of cross-trade shipments across multiple international trade lanes, along with rate negotiation, quotation drafting, and coordination with agents, shipping lines, and customers to support efficient execution and healthy margins. The position calls for strong operational discipline, service focus, and effective collaboration across origins, hubs, and destinations.

Key Responsibilities

The supervisor will manage pricing, customer communication, shipment execution, trade lane coordination, technical compliance knowledge, and reporting. This includes preparing freight quotes, obtaining competitive rates from carriers and partners, supporting customer solutions, overseeing shipment movement, and tracking performance indicators and market trends.

Pricing and Quotation Management

  • Build and send accurate sea export and cross-trade freight quotations.
  • Work with shipping lines, co-loaders, overseas agents, and partner offices to secure competitive pricing.
  • Handle rate structures for complex, multi-leg shipments across several trade lanes and origin points.
  • Ensure pricing supports company margin goals and can be executed operationally.
  • Follow up on quotations to improve conversion and win business.

Customer Relationship Management

  • Engage proactively with existing and prospective customers to understand shipment needs.
  • Create shipping solutions tailored to export and cross-trade requirements.
  • Offer additional services where relevant and maintain high service standards.
  • Develop durable relationships with customers and overseas partners to support long-term continuity.

Operations Coordination and Execution

  • Coordinate with operations, documentation, and overseas teams to ensure confirmed shipments move smoothly.
  • Track cross-trade cargo movement across origin and destination points to maintain visibility.
  • Share shipment instructions, rate agreements, and routing details with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Confirm that shipping and customs documents comply with international rules and requirements.
  • Address operational issues quickly to protect delivery timelines.

Cross-Trade Expertise and Trade Lane Management

  • Manage shipments that involve third-country routing and multi-leg movements, such as China to Kenya via Dubai or Europe to Africa.
  • Coordinate with multiple agents and partners across origin, hub, and destination offices.
  • Keep a record of trade lane performance, costs, and partner dependability.
  • Stay informed on lane developments, carrier schedules, and market shifts to support better pricing and routing decisions.

Technical and Industry Knowledge

  • Apply strong working knowledge of INCOTERMS, HS Codes, export/import paperwork, and carrier processes.
  • Remain current on export rules, shipping line procedures, and freight market conditions.
  • Guide customers and internal teams on compliance, routing efficiency, and best practices.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare recurring reports covering quotations, bookings, trade lane profitability, and service KPIs.
  • Share insights with management on pricing trends, market movement, and customer activity.
  • Support ongoing process improvements and operational enhancements.

Skills and Competencies

The role calls for strong sea export and cross-trade logistics knowledge, solid negotiation ability, careful coordination, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple quotations and clients across time zones. A customer-first mindset, responsiveness, flexibility for longer working hours, and comfort with MS Office, ERP/CRM platforms, and freight pricing tools are also important.

Qualifications and Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in sea export pricing, cross-trade operations, and customer service in the freight forwarding sector. Good knowledge of international trade practices, carrier rate structures, and multi-country routing is expected.
