About the Role

Join the RAC as a Superflex Roadside Patrol Mechanic and experience a role that values flexibility. As part of this position, you will provide adaptable roadside assistance critical to our service's success across Oxford and neighboring areas like Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Witney, Bicester, and Thame. You will be based in the Oxford cluster, working locally from home each day and focusing on helping members return to the road.

Work Hours & Schedule

You will average around 40 hours per week throughout the year, with rosters provided one week in advance and core hours confirmed three days before shifts. Shifts span from 06:00 to 02:00 and may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays, offering variety beyond the standard 9 to 5.

What You Will Need

  • Either NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) plus at least two years’ relevant experience or a minimum of five years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic.
  • Full UK driving license with fewer than six penalty points.

Job Expectations

You will be more than just a mechanic; you will serve as a problem solver, client ambassador, and trusted advisor in roadside situations, working calmly under pressure and responding to diverse vehicle issues ranging from diagnostics to basic repairs like flat tires and batteries. You'll manage your own equipment and supplies and deliver precise reporting on each job.

Equipment Provided

From day one, you will be supplied with an RAC van, fuel card, uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic equipment to ensure you have what you need to succeed.
