Role overview
The Student Success Coach supports Boise State University by actively engaging prospective students who are interested in online degree pathways. The role centers on outreach, relationship-building, and helping students move through the recruitment process with confidence.
Work arrangement and schedule
This position may be performed remotely from an approved alternate work location. To qualify for remote work, the candidate must live in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, or Wyoming. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Mountain Time, and the role requires real-time support through Zoom, chat, and email while also handling assigned priorities.

Department and team context
The Division of Extended Studies works to broaden access to higher education through online programs, community-based offerings, concurrent enrollment, summer sessions, continuing education, and other lifelong learning opportunities. Within this division, the Enrollment and Student Success Recruitment team focuses on helping students from diverse backgrounds find the right academic path and succeed throughout the recruitment journey.
What you will do
- Proactively recruit prospective online students using a consultative, relationship-focused approach.
- Help students surface barriers to enrollment and talk through practical solutions that strengthen confidence and persistence.
- Handle inbound communication from prospective students across email, text, phone, and chat queues with prompt, accurate service.
- Maintain regular follow-up using structured communication plans and personalize outreach based on individual student needs and the recruitment cycle.
- Guide students through university systems and policies related to admissions, financial aid, online learning options, academic advising, and special populations such as transfer students, adult learners, military members, veterans, GED graduates, international students, and returning Boise State students.
- Use a CRM each day to manage workflows, log activity, communicate with collaborators, and support reporting needs.
- Adjust recruitment tactics using data, student population insights, metrics, and university processes to meet the needs of students and stakeholders.
- Continuously improve student service by strengthening internal workflows, procedures, resources, and published content.
- Stay adaptable as program details, processes, and priorities change.
- Build strong partnerships with program stakeholders by sharing timely recruitment information, learning from industry trends, and serving as a subject matter resource.
- Present recruitment updates in scheduled partner operations meetings.
- Develop and sustain recruitment pipelines with marketing teams, four-year institutions, community organizations, university partners, and academic partners for assigned degree programs.
- Create and deliver recorded or live presentations for prospective students and corporate groups, including webinars, information sessions, and group presentations.
- Take on additional responsibilities as needed.

The ideal candidate is highly service-oriented, comfortable with change, organized, detail-focused, and able to communicate clearly in writing and verbally. The role also calls for sound judgment, discretion with confidential information, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred credentials include a master’s degree in a related field, 1 to 2 years supporting or recruiting online learners, and 1 to 2 years using student information systems or CRM tools such as PeopleSoft or Slate.
Compensation and benefits
The pay for this position is $51,584 per year. Boise State University also offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes 12 paid holidays, closure between Christmas and New Year’s with 3 vacation days required, 12 to 24 paid vacation days annually for eligible full-time staff depending on position type and years of service, a 10.76% university contribution to ORP retirement for Professional and Faculty employees, medical and dental coverage, and tuition fee waiver benefits for employees, spouses, and dependents.
