Role Overview
Boon Lay Secondary School in Singapore is looking for a committed and empathetic Student Management & Behaviour Support Officer to help with student discipline, behaviour intervention, mentoring, case support, and investigation-related tasks. The role involves working alongside school leadership, counsellors, case management staff, and teachers to support students who need behavioural guidance and structured follow-up.

Employment Details
This is a contract position from 01 August 2026 to 30 June 2027.
Working Arrangement
- Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- Includes a 1-hour lunch break
- No duties on Saturdays, Sundays, or Public Holidays
Non-Service Period
- No service is required during the December 2026 school vacation
- No deployment or payment claim applies for that period
Key Duties
The officer will support student management systems, behavioural supervision, intervention programmes, discipline records, and investigation follow-ups. The role also includes helping with emotional regulation support, reintegration into class, and coordination with relevant school support teams.
Student Discipline and Behaviour Support
- Help carry out student discipline and management procedures.
- Assist with referrals, disciplinary cases, and follow-up actions.
- Guide and supervise students who need behavioural support.
- Conduct restorative discussions and developmental interventions.
- Track students who require closer behavioural oversight.
Intervention Space Management
- Oversee designated pull-out, chill-out, and in-house suspension areas.
- Support students in calming down and returning to regular classes.
- Keep intervention notes and monitor outcomes.
- Run mentoring, coaching, and regular student check-ins.
- Assist with both individual and group intervention activities.
- Build trust with vulnerable and at-risk students.
- Help students strengthen conflict resolution, self-management, and social-emotional skills.
De-escalation Support
- Respond when teachers need help managing escalated behaviour.
- Escort students safely to intervention spaces when needed.
- Support de-escalation and crisis-management efforts.
Investigation and Fact-Finding
- Assist with discipline, bullying, and misconduct investigations.
- Collect statements from students and document incident accounts.
- Support evidence gathering and proper documentation.
- Prepare timeline records and investigation files.
- Provide administrative help throughout the investigation process.
Records and Database Administration
- Maintain discipline records and student behaviour databases.
- Log interventions, incidents, investigations, and follow-up actions.
- Create reports on discipline cases and behaviour trends.
- Ensure filing and record-keeping are properly maintained.
Case Management Collaboration
- Coordinate with the Case Management Team, school counsellors, SEN officers, and school leaders.
- Share observations and student progress updates.
- Join case review and intervention discussions.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with student supervision activities.
- Support student development and discipline-related programmes.
- Carry out other student management tasks assigned by the school.
Education and Experience
A diploma or degree is preferred in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Education, Youth Work, Behavioural Sciences, or a related field. Applicants should have at least 1 year of relevant experience in youth work, social work, counselling, educational support, behavioural support, student management, social services, or mentoring. Prior experience in school settings, student mentoring, youth engagement, behavioural intervention, case support, and fact-finding work is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies
Strong communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills are important. The role also calls for active listening, basic counselling methods, mentoring ability, behaviour management, conflict resolution, documentation, report writing, record control, calmness under pressure, and physical and mental fitness for discipline-related work. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Word, the Microsoft Office suite, and student database systems are also needed.
