Job description
About the School
Pinjarra Senior High School has been supporting the Pinjarra community and nearby areas since 1921. The school offers a mix of established and innovative learning options for students in Years 7 to 12, with pathways that prepare them for university, vocational training, and work.
The Role
This is a permanent full-time position starting in Term 3, 2026. The school is looking for a driven and student-focused coordinator to lead its engagement strategy for learners who are at risk in an educational setting.
In this role, you will create, organise, and deliver targeted programs and pathways that respond to the needs of students, their families, and staff. You will help strengthen professional relationships across the school and with community agencies to improve student connection, participation, and wellbeing.
You will work directly with students to improve attendance and engagement, including making home visits, helping set personal goals, and putting individual pathway plans into action. The role also includes planning and running customised activities, excursions, and learning programs that build confidence, self-esteem, respect, and a stronger connection to learning.
A significant part of the job is to provide intensive one-to-one support to students who may leave school early, helping them stay connected to meaningful education and future pathways. You will also be expected to keep up to date with current research and effective practice relating to students at educational risk so that your interventions remain practical and evidence-based.
Additional Information
Full role details, the selection criteria, and training expectations are set out in the attached Job Description Form (JDF).

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion
The department is committed to building an inclusive and culturally responsive workforce that reflects the diversity of schools and the wider Western Australian community. Applications are encouraged from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people, people of diverse sexualities and genders, people with disability, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Eligibility
To be considered, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with work rights for the duration of the appointment. You must also obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting, and agree to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check as well as a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before commencement. Any other eligibility or training requirements are listed in the attached JDF.
Application Instructions
Applications are submitted online in two steps. First, complete the application form and provide details of two work-related referees, ideally including your current line manager. Second, upload your documents.
Your submission should include a CV of up to three pages that outlines your employment history and a summary of professional learning relevant to the role, along with a three-page statement addressing the selection criteria from the JDF. The role calls for demonstrated experience working with individual students or small groups who are facing educational difficulties, strong organisational ability to manage priorities and deadlines, and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a team. It also requires knowledge of the youth sector, especially Aboriginal education and youth development organisations and services.
Shortlisted candidates will be assessed further against the selection criteria in the JDF. Applicants are advised to prepare attachments before starting the application. Late submissions will not be accepted.
