Role Overview

The Buildings team at CIMA+ is highly regarded for designing superior buildings and delivering cost-effective engineering solutions. As a Structural Building Engineer in our Saint John office, you will engage in designing structural components of institutional, residential, and commercial projects. Your expertise will contribute to delivering innovative and effective solutions while supporting our regional outreach efforts. Operating in a collaborative team comprised of engineers, technicians, and drafters, you will be encouraged to exercise initiative and build trust in a dynamic setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Design structural components for steel, concrete, and wood buildings.
• Conduct engineering calculations through specialized software for new builds, undertake expert assessments, oversee construction administration, and supervise on-site construction activities.
• Develop practical technical solutions to challenges encountered during projects.
• Plan projects including design timelines and construction schedules.
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports, specifications, and project cost estimates.
• Monitor projects at every stage including surveys, inspections, documentation, and supervisory duties.
• Offer technical assistance to clients and ensure coordinated communication between architects, engineers, and contractors.
• Maintain direct client relationships and support business development through proposal preparation, pricing, and responding to requests for proposals.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB).
• At least two years of relevant experience designing building structures and conducting construction site inspections.
• Proficiency in ETABS, ADA, and SAFE software applications.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
• Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written; French language skills considered advantageous.
• Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
