Job description
Role overview
Test Valley Borough Council is seeking a Street Cleaning Operative to join its active Street Cleaning team in the Test Valley Borough, based in Andover. This is a stable, worthwhile role for someone who likes working in a customer-facing setting, can operate independently when needed, and also contributes effectively within a team.
Working pattern
This is a full-time role of 37 hours per week. The usual schedule runs from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.
Pay
The salary for this post is £25,952.28 to £27,391.68 per year, graded at Grade 3.
What the role involves
The post includes street cleansing responsibilities together with driving duties. The successful candidate will spend time working outdoors and engaging with members of the public as part of day-to-day service delivery.
Essential requirements
A current clean driving licence is required for this position. Applicants should also be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, dealing with the public, and collaborating as part of a team.
Desirable knowledge
Previous knowledge of street cleansing and familiarity with the Test Valley area would be helpful, although neither is mandatory.
Benefits
The council provides a local government pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, free on-site parking, and discounted leisure facilities. It also supports ongoing learning and development and offers wellbeing-focused events for staff.
Additional information
For an informal conversation about the role, contact Ben Hamilton, Head of Environmental Services – Operations (North), on 01264 368393.
