Position Overview

The institute is inviting applications from exceptional professionals experienced in strategic consulting from leading international firms. As a central in-house strategic advisor, the role involves utilizing proven consulting frameworks and business acumen to shape medium and long-term institute strategies. This includes delivering insightful analyses and actionable strategic recommendations to senior management to ensure the institute's research and commercialization efforts consistently lead the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute strategic planning and consultative analysis by applying recognized tools and models used by top consulting firms to research technology trends, markets, policies, and innovations globally.
• Produce comprehensive industry reports, competitive reviews, and strategic proposals to guide management with well-founded development advice.
• Maintain and deploy a robust strategic decision support system assessing technology investments, collaboration opportunities, and market entry approaches.
• Lead or independently manage special research projects, clearly communicating alternative options, risks, and recommended paths to leadership.
• Identify and assess potential international collaborators—including universities, research bodies, and tech enterprises—and employ business analysis and negotiation skills to support the initiation and execution of major cooperative ventures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Doctorate degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or closely related fields.
• Between 3 to 5 years' experience in strategic consulting at top international management consulting companies, with a preference for candidates experienced in the energy, chemical, or life sciences sectors.
• Track record encompassing the complete project lifecycle from strategic analysis to implementation with successful strategic planning or commercial due diligence projects.
• Proficient in core strategic consulting methodologies, exhibiting strong problem-solving abilities, structured thinking, and competency in data analysis.
• Deep understanding of technology advances and trends within advanced materials or synthetic biology.
• Knowledge in technology transfer, intellectual property, and commercialization processes.
• Strong financial analysis, investment evaluation, and market research skills; CFA charter holders are advantageous.
• Excellent fluency in English (C1 or above); additional proficiency in German or Chinese is preferred.
• Possess superior strategic insight, commercial awareness, negotiation skills, cross-cultural communication, team leadership, organizational coordination, and innovation detection capabilities.
• Willingness to travel internationally frequently; strong industry networks and an entrepreneurial mindset are desirable.
