About the Role

We are looking for a creative and visionary Story Architect / Screenwriter based in Pasadena, CA, who specializes in Fictional Thrillers or Investigative Documentaries. This role involves designing captivating storylines that resonate emotionally and maintain suspense, while using innovative storytelling methods. The scripts you develop will serve as the backbone of projects that span across various media, delivering authenticity and depth that engage audiences deeply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate original story ideas, prepare outlines, and develop comprehensive scripts that align with project objectives and editorial standards.
  • Perform comprehensive research to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of investigative documentary content or create compelling fictional elements for thrillers.
  • Work collaboratively with producers, directors, and editors to polish story structure, character growth, and narrative rhythm.
  • Compose engaging dialogue and descriptive scenes that enhance the narrative while conforming to editorial style guides like AP Style or Chicago Manual of Style.
  • Review and edit scripts to ensure consistency in grammar, factual correctness, and style prior to final approval.
  • Oversee editorial timelines and manage revision processes efficiently through content management systems.
  • Develop persuasive proposal documents to present story ideas and secure approval from key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in creative writing, content writing, or screenwriting focused on thriller or documentary genres.
  • Strong aptitude for storytelling, with proficiency in crafting narrative flow and developing characters.
  • Exceptional research abilities to underpin investigative storytelling or enrich fictional narratives.
  • Advanced skills in proofreading, editing, copy editing, and fact-checking to uphold quality standards.
  • Familiarity with editorial guides such as AP Style and Chicago Manual of Style for polished and standardized script presentation.
  • Experience with technical writing and use of content management tools for document handling.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective teamwork and idea articulation.
  • Understanding of journalism practices and content creation best practices to craft stories that inform or entertain effectively.
