About the Role
Based in Hull with travel across the UK, this role supports Balfour Beatty's Power Transmission & Distribution team. The role's focus is on managing and ensuring the availability of materials, tools, plant, and equipment essential for power infrastructure projects driving the UK's shift to a low-carbon future.
Primary Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of site stores and yard facilities to support various project activities.
- Manage stock, plant, tools, consumables, and personal protective equipment (PPE) ensuring alignment with project needs.
- Receive, inspect, and issue materials, equipment, and deliveries accurately.
- Safely load and unload vehicles while maintaining operational efficiency.
- Maintain precise stock records and provide reports on inventory status, deficiencies, and upcoming requirements.
- Coordinate plant and equipment hire processes, including acceptance and returns.
- Ensure calibration compliance for tools and lifting equipment.
- Engage with suppliers regarding deliveries, replacements, and resolution of damaged goods.
- Maintain a secure, organised, and safe environment within stores and yard areas.
- Work collaboratively with project managers, engineers, operational teams, and supply chain partners to ensure materials and equipment meet scheduling demands.
Candidate Profile
We seek conscientious, organised individuals experienced in construction, infrastructure, or logistics environments who value safety and accuracy.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
- Valid full UK driving licence.
- Prior experience in stores, warehouse, plant, logistics, or construction settings.
- Excellent organisational and record-keeping capabilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Willingness to travel UK-wide and adopt a flexible working approach.
- Commitment to health, safety, and well-being standards.
- Capacity to handle pressure and prioritize multiple tasks.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with construction, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with power or energy sectors.
- Certification such as Telehandler licence or relevant plant equipment tickets.
- Emergency First Aid at Work certification.
- Overhead Line (OHL) authorisations.
- Proficiency in IT tools including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
