The Store Manager in Training (SMIT) position is a development-oriented role created to prepare you for a future Store Manager opportunity. This program is intended to build leadership capability through a structured 16-week training journey that combines self-paced learning with collaborative support.
You will gain experience through both virtual learning and hands-on store-based training, with guidance from leaders such as a District Leader, Human Resources Business Partner, Training Store Manager, and a Store Manager coach.
What You Will Do
- Develop the communication, customer service, merchandising, and inventory management skills needed to lead a store effectively.
- Participate actively in structured learning experiences and work closely with leadership to build readiness for promotion.
- Support the store as part of the management team while following company values, policies, and operating standards.
- Help reinforce CVS Health’s purpose of supporting people on their path to better health.
- Remain open to promotion opportunities within the designated market and be prepared to transfer within that market if required.

Requirements
- Willingness to accept a Store Manager promotion anywhere within the designated market.
- Ability to transfer to other CVS Pharmacy locations within the designated market.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that may change based on business needs.
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Retail management experience is preferred, or prior experience as a CVS Supervisor.
- Relevant work experience may be considered in place of a four-year college degree.
Training and Promotion Notes
Completion of the SMIT program does not automatically lead to a Store Manager promotion. Advancement depends on several factors, including performance and the availability of open positions.
Hours and Compensation
This role is expected to average 45 hours per week. The base pay range is $18.50 to $23.88 per hour, with the final offer influenced by experience, education, location, and other relevant factors.
