Role overview

Woolworths Supermarkets New Zealand is inviting expressions of interest for Store Manager roles across South Island locations. The business operates more than 185 stores and employs 20,000 team members across Aotearoa, with a focus on improving everyday life for Kiwi customers.

Key accountabilities

  • Guide the team to grow trade performance and improve store profitability.
  • Coach and develop employees so they build strong product knowledge and deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Recruit, select, and train capable team members while building effective succession plans.
  • Use customer and operational data to make informed decisions, manage profit and loss, allocate resources effectively, and work confidently with digital tools and transformation initiatives.
  • Strengthen team capability, support change adoption, and turn strategic priorities into practical outcomes while maintaining team engagement.
  • Deliver high standards of customer care, support local community priorities, and put the Sustainability Plan into action.

About you

  • You bring proven leadership ability and previous retail management experience.
  • You have shown that you can run a retail operation successfully from a commercial perspective.
  • You can build, sustain, and influence strong stakeholder relationships.
  • You lead with a team-first and customer-first mindset.
  • You understand health, safety, and wellbeing legislation and accepted best practice.
  • You are available for four weekend shifts each month, including at least one Saturday and one Sunday, plus at least one evening per week until store closing time.
