Position overview

This role supports store operations and customer service by keeping shopping carts available, assisting customers with carry-outs and carry-ins, and helping maintain a clean, orderly, and safe shopping environment. It is suited to someone interested in retail operations and hands-on customer support.

Key duties

• Gather carts from cart corrals, the parking area, and the store perimeter, then return them to the proper storage area using approved store procedures and completing the required logs.
• Provide quick support at registers when needed, including helping customers carry items to or from the store and checking receipts when proof of purchase is required.
• Carry out scheduled restroom cleaning and basic maintenance tasks, including the safe handling of cleaning chemicals, correct disposal practices, and the use of powered equipment with pre-use inspection reports.
• Follow safety and emergency protocols, including requirements related to hazardous materials communication, lockout/tagout, and bloodborne pathogen procedures.
• Keep the Cart Retrieval Log up to date at the Customer Service Desk.
• Help maintain a workplace that is clean, safe, and free from hazards by following company policies and procedures.
• Use the required personal protective equipment, including steel-toe footwear and a reflective vest, to improve visibility during cart collection.
• Perform safety sweeps as required.

Pay and location

The minimum hourly rate for this position begins at $16.90. The role is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, at 6990 Mumford Rd, Halifax, NS B3L 4W4.
