Position Overview

As a Stockperson/Cartpusher, you play a vital role in maintaining a safe, orderly, and inviting shopping environment. Your key responsibility is to gather shopping carts from designated outdoor locations and the store perimeter and return them to their proper storage areas following established procedures. This role involves direct customer contact and supports overall store operations while enhancing your skills in retail, teamwork, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Retrieve shopping carts from cart corrals, parking areas, and store surroundings, ensuring they are returned to specified storage zones using Walmart-approved methods, completing all required documentation accurately.
• Respond swiftly to requests from cash registers and customer service points, assisting customers with carrying merchandise and verifying purchase receipts when necessary.
• Conduct periodic cleaning and upkeep duties such as restroom maintenance, adhering to guidelines for chemical use, safe disposal, and power equipment operation. Perform all mandatory equipment inspections before use.
• Follow all safety protocols including hazardous communication, lockout/tagout procedures, and handling of bloodborne pathogens to maintain a secure environment for both customers and staff.
• Promote workplace safety by utilizing required personal protective gear such as steel-toe footwear and reflective vests, conducting safety checks, and adhering to company policies to preserve a hazard-free setting.
• Maintain flexible availability, including willingness to work evening, weekend, and holiday shifts to support continuous store operations and consistent customer service.

Challenges in the Role

• Manage high workloads efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during overnight shifts, by planning to sustain focus and energy.
• Handle physically demanding tasks including standing for long periods, bending, lifting items up to 50 lbs (typically 20 lbs), and performing repetitive stocking and organizing activities with accuracy and attention to detail.

Compensation

The starting wage for this position is $15.50 per hour.
