Role Overview
The Steward plays a vital role in upholding cleanliness and sanitation within all kitchen areas, including utensils, tableware, and cooking appliances. This position contributes to seamless daily kitchen operations by ensuring a hygienic, safe, and well-ordered workspace.
Key Duties
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize kitchen tools, equipment, pots, and pans.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen floors, walls, and workstations.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and recyclable materials from assigned spots.
- Operate dishwashing machinery efficiently and ensure its proper functioning.
- Keep track of cleaning stock and chemicals, reporting shortages promptly.
- Support kitchen and service teams during buffet or banquet setup and dismantling.
- Adhere strictly to hotel safety regulations and sanitation protocols, including correct handling of chemicals.
- Organize and stack cleaned dishes, delivering them to designated storage areas.
- Handle all equipment with care to prevent damage or breakage.
- Carry out scheduled deep cleaning tasks, such as cleaning ovens and grease traps.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferable.
- Prior experience in a similar steward or dishwasher role within hotels or restaurants is beneficial.
- Basic knowledge of kitchen hygiene and sanitation standards.
- Physical capability to lift heavy items and remain standing for extended hours.
- A cooperative team member with a positive demeanor and good communication abilities.
