Role Overview
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for handling the full reprocessing cycle for medical instruments and supplies. This includes decontamination, preparation, packaging, and sterilization in line with established departmental standards. The role also supports the team by serving as a guide, mentor, and preceptor for other staff members.
Key Duties
- Clean and decontaminate instruments and equipment used in patient care.
- Prepare, package, and sterilize instrumentation according to department procedures.
- Follow all established workflows and quality standards for sterile processing.
- Support coworkers by acting as a resource, mentor, and preceptor when needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent. Prior certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is preferred, and hospital experience is also preferred.
Certification Requirement
Team members hired into this role must earn Sterile Processing certification within 24 months of hire.
Schedule and Work Conditions
This is a full-time position with a night shift schedule from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. The shift code is Shift 3, which corresponds to nights. Weekend work may be required occasionally, and the role includes on-call coverage. Remote work is never available for this position.
