Role Overview
The Steel Fabricator position is a full-time remote role focused on fabricating, assembling, and finishing steel parts specifically for marine applications. Daily responsibilities involve interpreting technical blueprints, precise measurement and cutting of steel, along with various metalworking tasks such as shaping, fitting, and providing welding support when needed. The role requires operation of manual and power tools, as well as grinding equipment, to prepare surfaces, eliminate defects, and secure high-caliber finishes.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Fabricate and assemble steel components based on technical drawings and project specifications.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and grinding machines to shape and finish metal parts.
- Carry out metalworking tasks including cutting, shaping, and fitting steel materials.
- Coordinate closely with supervisors and team members to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
- Adhere strictly to safety practices and regulatory requirements during all fabrication activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and progress updates.
- Contribute ideas and efforts towards continuous improvement of fabrication methods and processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proficient in various metalworking techniques including cutting, shaping, and fitting steel components.
- Experienced in using hand tools and grinding equipment for detailed preparation and finishing tasks.
- Skilled in the safe and efficient use of power tools within an industrial or fabrication environment.
- Capable of operating forklifts to safely transport materials and assembled products when necessary.
- Prior experience in steel fabrication, preferably within marine or related industrial manufacturing sectors.
- Ability to accurately read and interpret technical drawings, measurements, and job instructions.
- Strong commitment to upholding safety protocols, quality assurance, and compliance with company policies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting and coordinate with dispersed teams.
