The YR Gaitonde Medical Educational & Research Foundation (YRGMERF), established in 1993, is a respected NGO in India dedicated to improving lives through integrated healthcare services, collaborative partnerships, and research. The foundation emphasizes integrity, sustainability, and addresses ongoing health challenges, particularly for HIV and other infectious diseases. Currently, YRGMERF plans to launch a project aimed at strengthening urban and peri-urban health ecosystems to prepare against future disease threats through coordinated interventions.

Role Overview

The State Data Quality Assurance Officer for Assam will be crucial in implementing and supervising a performance tracking system for project activities, ensuring data quality, and complying with organisational standards. Reporting to the State Manager in Guwahati, this role involves collaboration with diverse team members and stakeholders to monitor progress and address any challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a performance tracker in synchronization with the National team and provide training to state personnel on its usage.
• Utilize the tracker consistently both onsite and during report preparations to monitor monthly activity completion.
• Identify delays or issues in coordination with city and project leads and assist in formulating corrective action plans to enhance team performance.
• Oversee timely drafting of reports, technical briefs, and documents for donors and stakeholders.
• Assist in establishing baseline metrics for the project and perform ongoing monitoring against these benchmarks.
• Adapt the National team's Data Quality Assurance system to fit project needs, focusing on secondary data sources and process/output level information.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to verify the relevance of secondary data for planning interventions and forecasting disease patterns.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate field operations and engage with local stakeholders.
• Ensure all activities adhere to YRGMERF’s policies on ethics, safeguarding, data protection, and financial protocols.
• Implement data quality checks during field visits and address identified gaps with the team and experts.
• Document and monitor progress thoroughly for donor and stakeholder submissions.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors that support project goals.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

• Possess a Master's degree in Statistics, Epidemiology, or Population Studies.
• Have at least five years of relevant experience managing data systems and utilizing data for programming in urban health contexts.
• Experience relevant to NUHM, Urban Health, Disease Surveillance, One Health initiatives, or National Vector Borne Control Program is essential.
• Familiarity with Assam's health systems, particularly urban health and disease surveillance, is a must.
• Proficient in applying data for disease surveillance and One Health activities.
• Quick learner with the capability to work alongside senior subject experts effectively.
• Team-oriented with a problem-solving mindset and appreciation for collaborative efforts.
• Comfortable using new tools and methods, including predictive analysis techniques for disease surveillance.
