Job description
Role Overview
Aditya Birla Capital is looking for a State Credit Manager for its secured retail credit business in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. The position focuses on managing portfolio health, strengthening controls, improving productivity, and coordinating with internal teams to keep credit decisions aligned with business and risk requirements.
Portfolio Management
- Continuously monitor the region’s portfolio and spot early warning signs or weak areas that need management attention.
- Ensure portfolio movement stays aligned with the organization’s expectations and operating mandate.
- Measure portfolio quality through delinquency trends, bounce rates, loss figures, RCR, and file-quality scores.
Business and Financial Management
- Adjust capacity planning based on business demand and operational requirements.
- Identify credit-related and process-related risks and take timely corrective action.
- Use bureau data, rating agency inputs, and collection reports to support risk mitigation.
- Run periodic stress checks, especially in markets where real estate prices move sharply, and act on the findings.
- Stay alert to outside influences affecting the portfolio, including bureau and rating agency developments.
Customer Focus
- Make decisions that follow management direction while keeping customer impact in view.
- Improve operating efficiency by ensuring decisions are completed within defined timelines.
- Understand the market behavior of salaried and self-employed customers in STSL business across smaller towns and tier 3 to tier 4 markets.
People and Team Management
- Provide timely training and communicate policy updates as well as underwriting standards clearly.
- Lead and monitor direct reports through regular portfolio reviews, process control checks, and supervisory oversight.
- Work closely with business and allied teams to implement necessary changes.
- Use strong interpersonal skills to manage a team of more than 10 risk managers.
- Mentor 3 to 4 mid-level managers and support their growth and career progression.
Productivity Management and Improvement
- Drive productivity as a primary performance measure for the role.
- Track quality through the number of files handled each month.
- Introduce initiatives that improve productivity at every level of the function.
