About The Convention Centre Dublin

The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) is a leading conference and events venue in Ireland, situated in Dublin’s city centre. Opened in 2010, the venue has already delivered more than 2,400 events and hosted over 1.5 million guests. It has earned 67 industry awards along with a number of internationally recognised accreditations. The organisation contributes to Ireland’s reputation as a major international destination for conferences and events.

Joining The CCD means working in a high-impact environment with experienced colleagues, a varied client base and dependable partners, all focused on creating standout event experiences. The venue also offers opportunities to expand your capabilities, progress your career and maintain a healthy work-life balance in one of Dublin’s best-known buildings, supported by a flexible and encouraging workplace culture.

Role purpose

The main objective of this position is to deliver technical stage management and exhibition support for events at The CCD. The role focuses on meeting clients’ stage management and rigging needs while helping maintain the venue’s reputation as a premium event location.

Key responsibilities

In this role, you will coordinate closely with clients, production managers and event managers to deliver staging, exhibition and rigging requirements. You will also work with the Senior Exhibition Staging and Rigging Technician to support the delivery of these services as needed. Across build, live and derig phases, you will act as Stage Manager and serve as the main operational presence on stage, working under the direction of the Production Manager and Senior Technician.

During live events, you will be the main on-stage contact for speakers and clients, helping to ensure stage activity runs smoothly. You will keep communication flowing between Front of House and the technical team, especially around door management, timing and live event progression. You will also help manage run times and schedules, including any adjustments or delays that arise during the event.

You will take responsibility for health and safety on stage throughout build, live and derig phases, making sure safe working methods are established and followed. The role also includes being a key CCD contact for exhibitions, reviewing client event and exhibition plans, stage designs, set layouts, RAMS and fire certificates, and helping with sign-off as part of the exhibition management process.

As part of the role, you will support the sales of exhibition and stage-related services such as power, lighting and related offerings. You will work as floor manager during exhibition build and breakdown and ensure exhibition contractors submit and follow the correct risk assessments and method statements. You will also assist with the full technical setup of standard conferences, including sound, lighting and AV.

For larger events, you will operate as part of a wider team and follow direction from the Production Manager or Senior Technician, covering build, live and post-event stages. You will also be expected to use staging and rigging equipment efficiently, maintain it properly, report defects, carry out first-line maintenance, manage stock, store equipment correctly and keep it clean. Throughout all activities, you must work in line with The CCD’s customer care approach, support its health and safety goals, and follow all internal policies, procedures and protocols. Any other reasonable duties requested by senior technical leaders may also be assigned.

Requirements

  • Substantial hands-on experience in stage management, rigging and/or fly-tower work.
  • A solid working understanding of sound, AV and lighting, particularly where these affect stage and rigging operations.
  • Previous experience training stage crew would be an advantage.
  • Clear evidence of a strong customer service mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Corporate pension scheme with employer contribution
  • 23 days of annual leave, increasing to 27 days with service
