Role overview

Windmill Healthcare is looking to hire a qualified Registered Nurse to join its care team at Abbot Close Care Centre in Askeaton, County Limerick. The position is based on site and is described as part time in the source, although the job type provided is full time.

The team welcomes applications from both newly qualified nurses and those with prior experience. A genuine interest in gerontological care is essential.

What the role involves

  • Deliver resident care that is effective, efficient, and tailored to each person’s needs.
  • Maintain a compassionate nursing environment that supports residents’ physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing.
  • Build positive working relationships with residents, families, and visitors so that reassurance and support are consistently provided.
  • Follow all company policies and ensure they are understood and observed by the wider team.
  • Apply agreed procedures for the safe control, administration, and custody of medicines and drugs.
  • Work with awareness of HIQA requirements and take part in inspection activities; the care centre is stated to be fully compliant with HIQA standards.
  • Ensure admissions are completed accurately and that all required records and documents are filled in properly.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals when a resident is being discharged back into the community to support continuity of care.
  • Receive daily operational support from the CNM and DON.
  • Benefit from extensive training.

Required profile

Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and hold an active PIN. Experience in gerontological care or residential nursing care is expected, along with familiarity with HIQA standards and the Health Act Regulations 2013. Candidates should be fluent in English, both spoken and written, and be eligible to work in Ireland. Strong communication and listening abilities are important, as is the capability to work well within and lead a care team.
