Job description
Role Overview
The Staff Nurse will be entrusted with assessing patient needs, devising and undertaking care programmes, and evaluating their effectiveness. Providing exemplary clinical nursing within the ward or department is essential, along with managing patient groups effectively.
The role entails leading the ward during scheduled times, contingent on competence in leadership and supervisory duties. Acting as a mentor for students and Clinical Support Workers while upholding a professional image of the organization and nursing team is expected.
Care Responsibilities
- Assess patient needs and develop, implement, and evaluate individual care plans aligned with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of Professional Conduct and Trust policies.
- Facilitate patient admissions and discharges, coordinating with external agencies to ensure seamless care continuity between hospital and community.
- Deliver comprehensive patient-centered care recognizing unique needs of patients and their families.
- Communicate empathetically and effectively with patients, relatives, and healthcare teams, including sensitive information handling and handover procedures.
- Identify and escalate changes in patient conditions to senior nursing staff and medical professionals.
- Initiate appropriate referrals to multidisciplinary healthcare teams as needed.
- Address patient concerns through coordination with senior staff and promote equality and diversity respecting individual patient and family requirements.
