Job description
Role overview
An opportunity has opened for a compassionate and committed registered nurse to become part of the Outpatient team at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. The post is based in a busy, changing department that focuses on delivering safe, high-quality care with the patient at the centre of everything it does.
What this post offers
This Band 5 nursing role gives the successful applicant the chance to build experience across a broad mix of medical and surgical specialties. The outpatient setting is described as varied and full of development opportunities for registered nurses.
You may rotate through services such as dermatology minor procedures, trauma and orthopaedics, ENT, breast, vascular, and a range of medical clinics.
The team is looking for someone keen to grow their clinical capability and broaden their professional knowledge. Prior outpatient experience is not a must. Support will be provided by a Band 7 manager and a Band 6 deputy manager, alongside a tailored induction programme designed to help the new starter reach their potential.
Working arrangements
The role is initially based at Worthing Hospital. Some evening shifts and weekend working may also be needed.
Main duties
- Deliver safe, effective and evidence-based nursing care in line with Trust standards and professional requirements.
- Support the health and wellbeing of patients, families, carers and the wider community.
- Follow Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidance in day-to-day practice.
- Represent the Trust positively by communicating professionally with patients, carers and colleagues.
- Take delegated responsibility for defined tasks or areas from the senior nurse, while staying within your scope of practice.
- Keep building and updating your own clinical practice whenever possible.
- Support students and colleagues by supervising, teaching and setting an example in practice.
