Role Overview
Horizons is recruiting committed, caring, and enthusiastic Staff Nurses for its services across Cork City and County. The role supports children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism within a person-centred service focused on helping people reach their potential, improving everyday quality of life, and providing meaningful support to families. You will work within a multidisciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care in a progressive and supportive setting.
Work Location and Hours
This position is based in Cork City & County. The normal working week is 37.5 hours and the roster includes shift work, night duty included.
Salary
The post follows a 13-point scale effective from 01/02/2026. The salary points are: €37,788, €39,760, €40,767, €42,098, €43,775, €45,452, €47,120, €48,563, €50,009, €51,458, €52,937, €54,412, and €56,032 (LSI).
New hires start at the lowest point of the scale. Credit for prior relevant service may be considered for experience gained in Ireland or abroad, in line with Department of Health Circular 2/2011. Such credit is usually granted on appointment for previous service in the Civil Service, Local Authorities, Health Service, and other public service bodies or statutory agencies.
Additional Information
A panel may be created for 12 months to fill future permanent or temporary Staff Nurse vacancies, on either a full-time or part-time basis, across all areas managed by Horizons.

This role requires the ability to work in Ireland at the time of application. The organisation notes that a full, clean driving licence is preferred but not essential.

What You Will Do
- Provide nursing care and support to children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
- Contribute to a multidisciplinary approach that delivers evidence-based, person-centred care.
- Help improve service users’ quality of life and support their families in practical and meaningful ways.
- Work flexibly across changing service needs, including rostered shift patterns and night duty.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues to maintain a supportive care environment.
What We Are Looking For
- A Level 8 nursing qualification or an equivalent relevant third-level nursing degree.
- Current registration on the live register of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Valid permission to live and work in Ireland at the time of application.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- The ability to adapt to changing needs and work well in a team.
- Proficiency with IT systems.
- Previous experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism is an advantage.
- A full, clean driving licence is desirable.
