Job description
Role overview
An opportunity has opened in the newly established Emergency Department at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary for a Registered Nurse to contribute to urgent and emergency care delivery. The role involves providing high-quality, person-focused nursing support for patients presenting with acute conditions across the department, including Majors, Resuscitation, Minor Injuries and Illness, and Initial Assessment.
What you will do
- Take part in assessing, planning, delivering, and reviewing individualised nursing care for medical patients.
- Work alongside the multidisciplinary team to manage patients in a busy emergency setting.
- Support patients with clear guidance about treatment plans, medicines, follow-up arrangements, and self-care so they can take an active role in their recovery.
- Contribute to joined-up care planning with colleagues from different disciplines to maintain continuity and effective handover of information.
- Notice any deterioration or other changes in a patient’s condition and escalate to the appropriate professionals without delay.
- Represent the patient’s perspective, while safeguarding dignity, rights, and best interests.
- Keep electronic patient records complete, accurate, and up to date, including assessments, interventions, responses, and discharge advice.
- Work in line with evidence-based practice and help strengthen nursing standards within your area.
