Job description

About the Company

Amazon is a multinational e-commerce and technology company based in Seattle, Washington. It began as an online bookstore and expanded into a wide range of product and service categories with the goal of being the world’s most customer-focused company and a place where people can discover and buy almost anything online.

Role Overview

The Finance as a Service (FAAS) team works in a fast-moving, collaborative, and dynamic setting where delivering a strong customer experience is central. The FAAS R2R function is hiring a Staff Accountant to strengthen the accounting team in Bengaluru.

What You Will Do

This role focuses on month-end closing, preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations, and performing balance sheet analysis. You will also help management with financial accounting operations, reporting frameworks, procedures, and policy compliance. A further part of the job is to contribute to better systems and process design so the department can improve efficiency and strengthen controls over time.

What Success Looks Like

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys improving processes, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is motivated to exceed expectations. Strong business judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work across teams are important for success in this position.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Applicants should be a qualified accountant with CA, ICWA, CIMA, CMA, or CPA credentials. Experience in retail, marketplace, or financial retail services is considered an advantage. The role calls for excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a strong focus on operational excellence, simplification, and continuous improvement. Good working knowledge of financial controls and procedures is expected, and familiarity with US GAAP is a plus. Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of SQL are required. Experience with Oracle or SAP is also needed. Candidates should be flexible, well organized, proactive, self-driven, enthusiastic, and able to work effectively in a team. Knowledge of Six Sigma or Lean methods for defect reduction is preferred.

Basic Qualifications

Experience with standard business software such as Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL, and VBA is expected. The role also requires the ability to use data to support or influence business decisions. Background in corporate finance, including budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting, is required. Candidates should have up to 4 years of post-qualification experience in month-end book closing, sub-ledger work, accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with TM1, data warehouse tools, and SQL is preferred.

Accommodation Information

Amazon provides workplace accommodations or adjustments for applicants who need support during the hiring or onboarding process because of a disability. If the country or region is not listed in the accommodation resources, candidates should contact their recruiting partner for help.
