About the Company
Amazon is a global technology and commerce company founded in the United States and based in Seattle, Washington. What began as an online bookstore has expanded into a broad marketplace serving customers across many product and service categories, with a strong focus on customer obsession.
Role Overview
The Finance as a Service (FAAS) team operates in a fast-moving, collaborative, and delivery-driven environment. The FAAS R2R group is looking for a Staff Accountant to strengthen the accounting function and help maintain high-quality financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
This position will involve supporting month-end close activities, preparing reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, and performing balance sheet analysis. The role will also assist management across financial accounting, reporting systems, procedures, and policy-related work.
In addition, the role is expected to contribute to process and system enhancements within the department, with the goal of improving efficiency, strengthening controls, and driving continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
The ideal candidate should be a certified accountant holding CA, ICWA, CIMA, CMA, or CPA qualification. Experience in retail, marketplace, or financial retail services will be considered advantageous.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are important, along with a clear commitment to operational excellence and simplification of processes. The role also calls for sound knowledge of financial controls and procedures; familiarity with US GAAP will be an added advantage.
Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of SQL are required. Experience with Oracle or SAP is also expected. The candidate should be flexible, organized, adaptable, proactive, self-driven, enthusiastic, and able to work well in a team.
Lean or Six Sigma-style defect reduction methods are preferred. The role also values someone who can use data to support business decisions and who has experience in corporate finance areas such as budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants should be comfortable using standard business tools such as Excel, Access, Oracle, Essbase, SQL, and VBA. They should also have experience using data to guide decision-making and exposure to corporate finance work including budgeting, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
CA professionals with up to 4 years of post-qualification experience in month-end book closure, sub-ledger work, accounting, balance sheet reconciliation, and reporting are eligible for this role.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with TM1, data warehousing, and SQL will be an added advantage.
