About the Role
DELSEY Paris is currently seeking a diligent Staff Accountant to join their expanding finance team, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. This role involves managing daily accounting operations, coordinating departmental projects, performing month-end reconciliations, providing financial analysis and reporting, assisting audits, and serving as a key financial resource. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements and ad hoc financial reports accurately and on schedule.
- Support month-end closing activities including ledger reconciliations, daily cash reviews, and journal entry preparation and posting.
- Conduct monthly variance analysis comparing actual results to budget, discuss significant variances with management, and investigate any discrepancies by liaising with departments.
- Assess accounting procedures and systems, recommend enhancements to internal controls and efficiency, and maintain up-to-date process documentation.
- Provide managerial accounting support by clarifying expense matters and ensuring transactions are recorded correctly.
- Prepare audit schedules and assist both annual and interim external audits.
- Carry out additional financial analyses as requested by managers or CFO.
- Assist with tax compliance by gathering necessary data and preparing assigned returns such as U.S. and Canadian sales tax filings.
- Manage fixed asset records including additions, disposals, depreciation, and reporting for book and tax purposes.
- Support accounts receivable and payable through transaction processing, discrepancy resolution, invoice review, and payment processing, collaborating with operations teams.
- Record recurring accruals, prepaid expenses, and ensure proper cutoffs and expense recognition.
- Process payroll-related journal entries such as payroll accruals and employer contributions (e.g., 401(k)).
- Reconcile and record employee benefit expenses including health insurance and vacation accruals.
- Handle credit card transaction processing and reconcile these transactions.
- Support annual compliance activities including 1099 filings, business licenses, and annual reports.
- Maintain accurate vendor and customer master data within the accounting system.
- Perform monthly bank and cash reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Ensure all processes comply with US GAAP, company policies, and internal control standards.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of five years experience in accounting, ideally within the consumer goods sector focused on retail and wholesale.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel capabilities; data analytics experience/certifications are advantageous.
- Strong skills in financial reporting and analysis.
- Experience using enterprise accounting software; familiarity with Microsoft Business Central or MS GP is a plus.
- Exceptional organizational skills and close attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.

Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range: $70,000 to $85,000, based on experience.
