Job description
About Oxfam America
Oxfam is a worldwide anti-poverty organization working to challenge inequality, respond to crises with lifesaving aid, and advance economic justice, gender equality, and climate action. The organization is driven by the belief that everyone should have equal rights and opportunities to live with dignity.
Role Summary
The Senior Talent Acquisition Partner is responsible for shaping and running organization-wide recruitment and onboarding programs. This includes building end-to-end hiring workflows, designing role-based onboarding plans, leading orientation activities, and working closely with managers to help new employees settle in successfully.
The role is central to delivering hiring practices that are inclusive, efficient, and compliant across Oxfam US. It covers recruitment and onboarding for a wide range of employment arrangements, including visa-dependent hires, secondments, hosted positions, and employees engaged through Professional Employer Organizations (PEOs). The position also contributes to compliance, process refinement, and practical use of the applicant tracking system throughout hiring.
In addition, the role supports Oxfam’s broader people strategy by turning equity-centered and mission-driven goals into scalable staffing solutions. It requires close collaboration with internal teams and external partners to create fair, consistent, and accessible hiring and onboarding experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full recruitment cycle, from defining the role and gathering hiring needs through sourcing, screening, interviews, evaluation, and offer finalization.
- Work with hiring managers to apply consistent, values-based hiring practices and ensure strong use of the ATS.
- Create job postings, review pipeline progress, and engage with diverse candidate communities and outreach partners.
- Arrange candidate logistics such as interviews, reference verification, and background checks.
- Represent the organization at virtual and in-person career events and share opportunities through social channels and strategic collaborations.
- Use technology to improve hiring tools, templates, and workflows so the process is faster, more effective, and more accessible.
- Track and report on hiring performance metrics to keep turnaround times within required targets.
- Coordinate visa-supported hires and onboarding, including documentation preparation and coordination with immigration counsel.
- Act as the main contact for PEO-related international hiring, ensuring alignment with contracts, risk controls, and employment regulations.
- Support secondment and hosted-worker processes alongside global HR teams.
- Participate in Oxfam Confederation People and Culture discussions related to hiring, onboarding, and global mobility.
- Run consistent onboarding and offboarding processes, including completion of required forms such as I-9, E-Verify, and tax documents.
- Lead biweekly orientation sessions and manage onboarding coordination across departments.
- Maintain HRIS records, organize documentation, and ensure compliance across systems such as ADP Workforce Now.
- Create more standardized onboarding procedures.
- Manage recruiting, onboarding, and tracking for interns and volunteers, while supporting outreach and manager coordination.
- Ensure intern and volunteer programs follow labor requirements and educational agreements.
- Monitor participation and results for interns and recommend improvements to the program.
- Develop outreach efforts that build relationships with universities and diverse communities.
- Keep accurate records and reporting in SmartRecruiters, UBW (Unit4 Business World), and ADP Workforce Now.
- Review staffing and onboarding data to support equity objectives and process improvement.
- Provide general HR coordination and documentation support.
- Work with IT to improve the employee onboarding experience through better use of technology.
- Handle additional responsibilities as needed.
Position Expectations
- Stay current on employment law, visa requirements, and inclusive hiring practices, and seek feedback and development opportunities.
- Build strong relationships across HR, legal, finance, and other teams to keep staffing and onboarding processes coordinated and efficient.
- Apply feminist, anti-racist, and equity-centered principles to outreach, hiring, mobility, and onboarding practices.
- Translate workforce strategy into practical systems and hiring processes that support both mission and employee experience.
- Maintain ethical, transparent, and legally compliant staffing and onboarding practices.
- Be available for occasional travel of up to 10% for onsite onboarding, career events, retreats, or meetings, and remain flexible across time zones and shifting schedules when needed.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline is preferred, though equivalent professional experience may also be considered.
The role requires at least 4 years of experience in talent acquisition, staffing operations, or HR coordination. Experience with international hiring and onboarding, including work with immigration providers or PEOs, is important. Candidates should also understand U.S. employment law and visa rules, communicate effectively across cultures and functions, and bring strong attention to detail, organization, and cultural humility. Familiarity with ATS platforms such as SmartRecruiter, UBW, and ADP Workforce Now is expected.
Preferred Qualifications
Helpful additional experience includes HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or GPHR; recruiter certifications such as AIRS or LinkedIn Certified Recruiter; work in globally distributed or confederated nonprofits; and experience with diverse and inclusive hiring.
