Job description
About the Role
Join the Eastern States Speedway team and participate in a variety of volunteer roles supporting race events. Multiple positions are available to fit different interests and skills.
Available Positions
- Flag Person: Be the one to wave the flag to start each race. No experience necessary.
- Commentator Assistant: Support the main commentator during race nights with provided full training.
- Lap Scorer: Record competitors' race numbers as they cross the finish line each lap.
- Infield Staff: Work in the infield area, including roles in tow trucks or as hook-up assistants helping remove vehicles from the track.
- Pit Marshall: Facilitate the flow of vehicles by calling up cars to the pit lane in preparation for track entry.
- Junior Members Club Staff: Assist with merchandise sales and support junior members from the crowd area shop.
- Office Staff: Tasks include entering competitors into points spreadsheets, distributing radios and volunteer equipment, verifying and posting race results, notifying officials of scoring ties or discrepancies, and organizing volunteer equipment.
Volunteer Benefits
Volunteers receive free entry to the race track on event days.
Requirements and Commitment
- Availability to assist on any race meeting or race dates.
- Races occur on Friday, Saturday, and one Sunday each week.
- Typical race nights run from approximately 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with volunteers expected to commit to six-hour shifts.
- Sunday races begin at 2:00 PM; Friday races start at 7:00 PM.
