Job Overview
This role focuses on managing fuel purchase orders and deliveries for designated company sites, aiming to prevent fuel shortages and maintain ideal fuel inventory levels while minimizing total costs.
Work Schedule
The work schedule alternates weekly between 3 and 4 days on a shift from 7 PM to 7 AM, offering extended days off (3 or 4 consecutive days) every week.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate planning, scheduling, and execution of fuel deliveries—handling hundreds of loads daily involving millions in fuel procurement.
- Evaluate driver staffing, carrier capacity, inventory levels, trucking expenses, and fuel prices to develop cost-efficient delivery plans that avoid outages and maintain optimum fuel stocks.
- Manage high call volumes to support drivers with dispatch issues by determining and communicating alternative delivery arrangements.
- Track store fuel tank volumes and forecast sales demand to prevent fuel shortages.
- Maintain tank inventory levels at par to enhance cash flow and leverage margin improvements through market timing arbitrage.
- Monitor spot market prices for gasoline and heating oil to optimize dispatch timing based on market fluctuations.
- Review driver Department of Transportation hour regulations and organize safe and efficient routing.
- Collaborate daily with various teams—including drivers, supply coordinators, store staff, and logistics coordinators—to align fuel purchasing and delivery with key performance targets.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent certification required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or engineering, or at least three years of experience in transportation dispatch or optimization.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
