Overview
Beaumont Hospital in Dublin 9 is seeking a Specialist Coordinator for the Centre of Education on a permanent part-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week. This position reports to the Director of Nursing and will be remunerated according to the Nurse Tutor Scale, ranging from 73,062 to 81,989, aligned with government pay policies. The closing date for applications is 12 Noon on August 3rd, 2026, with the possibility of early closure given high applicant volume.
Role Summary
The Specialist Coordinator will support the Director of Nursing by planning, developing, and delivering nursing education programs aimed at nurses and healthcare support staff. The focus is on fostering an effective, person-centred, and equitable healthcare service through education grounded in current research, reflection, and innovation. Responsibilities include budgeting, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of educational courses and events.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in establishing and managing a Centre of Education providing accessible, high-quality training for nurses and healthcare assistants across Beaumont Hospital and St Joseph's Campus, Raheny.
- Collaborate extensively with nursing planning, development units, directors, clinical leaders, educational institutions like RCSI and DCU, human resources, library services, and other training providers.
- Support leadership activities such as implementing professional development strategies, identifying educational needs, delivering training programs, contributing to policy development, and fostering partnerships among nursing and midwifery education centres.
- Manage operational aspects including education program delivery, maintaining records and statistics, financial compliance, and reporting to Nursing Practice Development Coordinator.
- Provide advisory services to nursing leadership and participate in regional and national nursing education forums.
- Coordinate teaching and learning activities such as curriculum development, program accreditation in collaboration with CCNME, and quality assurance through evaluation and continuous improvement.
- Ensure adherence to professional standards, confidentiality, data protection, and a safe working environment.
- Engage in professional development and promote research and evidence-based practices in nursing education.
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered nurse in the General Division with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- Registered Nurse Tutor with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
- At least three years of post-registration clinical experience by the application deadline.
- Strong leadership and management capabilities.
- Preferred: Extensive experience in nurse education, curriculum development, leadership in nurse education, knowledge of health service priorities, research, audit, and evidence-based practice.
