Job description

Job Overview

This federally exempt position invites individuals with education and teaching backgrounds to transition into a dynamic role as a Special Agent with the FBI in the New York City Metropolitan Area. Special Agents use critical thinking, analysis, and decisive action to protect national security against threats such as cyberattacks, terrorism, and fraud. The role demands agility and resilience while providing a supportive workplace with competitive pay, benefits, and growth opportunities.

Leveraging Your Educational Experience

Your previous experience in education—ranging from early childhood teaching to leadership development—equips you with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex information. Skills in Adobe Photoshop, tutoring, machine learning, and working with children foster adaptability and sound judgment. As an FBI Special Agent, these competencies transform into the ability to recognize evidence, generate insights, and take ownership in high-impact investigations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute investigations into potential violations of federal laws involving cybersecurity and public safety.
  • Exercise discretion, initiative, and flexibility to meet the demands of investigative work.
  • Develop and sustain productive relationships with law enforcement partners across federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, and international levels.
  • Maintain physical fitness standards to perform essential law enforcement duties effectively.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Clearance.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for the role.
  • Fulfill FBI employment eligibility criteria.
  • Possession of at least a bachelor's degree, preferably in education or a related field, from a U.S. accredited college or university.
  • Verification of educational qualifications through official transcripts is required.

Compensation

The annual salary range is from $93,749 to $133,200, adjusted based on factors such as base, locality, and availability pay.

Application Process

  • Submit a resume highlighting relevant experience, ensuring it does not exceed two pages.
  • Include required documents such as college transcripts and, if applicable, veterans’ documentation.
  • Complete all sections of the application and attach all necessary documents for successful submission.

Equal Opportunity Statement

The FBI provides equal employment opportunities without regard to color, race, religion, national origin, marital or parental status, disability, genetic information, age, sex, pregnancy, or any other non-merit factors unless authorized by law.
