Where you'll work
Job description
About the Company
This organisation is focused on improving how major procurement activity creates value for the people of Aotearoa. Its commercial and supply chain function works across the country, using strategic category management and long-term supplier partnerships to make better use of public resources.
About the Role
In this position, you will help deliver procurement outcomes that are high quality, cost effective, and aligned with the delivery of important services across Aotearoa. You will partner with category management teams to shape and roll out sourcing strategies that are practical, legally compliant, and matched to operational requirements. The role centres on leading procurement activity, strengthening supplier relationships, and making sure every process meets the relevant procurement frameworks and standards.
About You
You are an organised procurement professional with strong commercial judgement and a solid grasp of sourcing and contract management. You take initiative, solve problems well, and work effectively with others while managing complex procurement work from start to finish. You are comfortable in fast-moving environments and have demonstrated the ability to deliver financial and operational improvements through strategic sourcing. You also understand the importance of stakeholder engagement and know how to build relationships that support shared objectives and long-term results. A relevant tertiary qualification is likely, along with several years of experience in sourcing or contract management where you have delivered successful supplier negotiations and contract development. Experience in a large, complex organisation would be an advantage. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential.
Additional Information
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a highly significant national system, where strong commercial decisions can support better health outcomes for Aotearoa. If you want work that is meaningful and different, this could be a strong fit.
Application and Eligibility
To be considered, you must be a New Zealand citizen or resident, or already have the legal right to work in New Zealand with a valid visa in place. References will be requested later in the process, so do not include them on your CV.
