Sourcing Manager - Food Supply Chain

Overview

Qatar Aircraft Catering Company (QACC) is looking to hire a proactive and strategic Sourcing Manager focused on both food and non-food products. This position supports the supply chain by collaborating with line managers to identify and evaluate suppliers and products to meet the growing demands of the Qatar Airways group. Key aspects include developing sourcing processes, planning yearly exhibition calendars, introducing innovative products, and ensuring cost, quality, and volume objectives are met.

Responsibilities

• Manage all documentation related to sourcing to ensure comprehensive and accurate information for Requests for Quotes (RFQs), including volume needs, minimum order quantities, and technical specs.
• Perform strategic product analyses to assist end users in planning RFQs, maintaining compliance with policies and procedures.
• Develop and oversee sourcing processes across categories with Supply Chain, continuously improving strategies and aligning with best practices to assure consistent production capacity.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships to maximize benefits within QACC’s supply chain.
• Scout and evaluate new suppliers that meet Qatar Airways’ standards regarding quality, logistics, and volume; advise senior management on sourcing options such as local versus overseas suppliers.
• Lead supplier evaluations and vendor qualification aligned with QACC’s Supply Chain and Quality Assurance requirements.
• Create and approve innovative product offerings to enrich onboard food services and customer experience.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to secure robust supplier processes that satisfy current and future business needs.
• Manage projects assigned by senior management, including spend analysis for "make vs. buy" decisions and efficiency initiatives.
• Organize and attend trade shows and exhibitions annually to source cost-effective, quality suppliers ensuring timely delivery.
• Analyze market trends regularly and report insights to senior management to identify opportunities and constraints within the sourcing landscape.
• Reduce stockouts, delivery failures, and product substitutions by developing a reliable backup supplier network to ensure operational continuity.
• Perform any other responsibilities assigned by the department head.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least six years of relevant experience.
• Experience in Middle Eastern food sourcing markets.
• Must have background in airline catering or large-scale food service catering organizations.
• Proven sourcing management experience in food and beverage sectors across international markets.
• Strong negotiation skills with suppliers.
• Fluent in English and proficiency in at least one additional language, preferably Arabic.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities under pressure.
• Numerical proficiency and competency in clear, accurate data presentation.
• People management capabilities.
• Good understanding of contracts and financial aspects.
• Demonstrates initiative, autonomy, and accountability for projects and decisions.
• CIPS certification or an equivalent qualification in Purchasing or Commerce is required.
