Job description
Role overview
Cooney Lees Morgan is hiring a solicitor for its Litigation and Local Government practice. The position sits within a busy team handling resource management and local government matters, with work that is varied, substantive, and professionally challenging.
What the role involves
You will advise clients on planning and environmental issues, consent applications and processes, and obligations under local authority requirements. The role also includes participation in Environment Court matters, along with exposure to a broad mix of civil litigation work.
About the firm
Cooney Lees Morgan is a respected Bay of Plenty law firm serving developer, local authority, corporate, commercial, and private clients across both local and national matters. The firm is known for attracting strong legal talent by offering high-quality work in a supportive and collaborative setting.
Skills and experience sought
The firm is looking for an NZ-admitted solicitor with at least two years of post-qualification experience. Background in resource management, local government, or regulatory prosecutions would be helpful. Strong research skills, clear and careful opinion writing, and a strong eye for detail are important. Benefits include free on-site parking, topped-up parental leave for primary carers for up to 26 weeks, extra birthday leave, discounted health insurance, access to an employee assistance programme, regular professional and personal development seminars, social and sporting activities, wellbeing workshops, and annual salary reviews.
