Role Overview

We are looking for a full-time, on-site Solar Technician in Kingston to install, maintain, and repair solar power and solar water heating systems. Daily duties include evaluating sites, installing panels, wiring and connecting inverters and other equipment, testing performance, ensuring safety compliance, and adhering to local regulations.

The technician is also responsible for troubleshooting and diagnosing problems in solar systems, conducting routine inspections, and documenting service activities. Collaboration with project managers, electricians, and other team members is essential to complete jobs on time. The role requires frequent fieldwork, strict adherence to safety practices, and professional client and team interaction. Guidance will also be provided to customers regarding system operation and maintenance.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with solar power systems and technology, including installation and electrical basics.
  • Understanding of grid-tied and off-grid solar power generation principles.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for solar equipment issues.
  • Ability to interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer instructions.
  • Experience using hand and power tools along with appropriate safety gear in construction or electrical contexts.
  • Knowledge of safety standards for working at heights, rooftops, and on electrical systems.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills in field environments.
  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional solar or electrical technical training/certification is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors under various weather conditions and travel locally in Kingston.
  • Driving capability is considered beneficial.
